Welcome to the Wave Energy Team’s Page

Aloha mai kākou. Pehea ʻoe? We are the wave energy team as part of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Department of Mechanical Engineering. This is our senior design project. Thank you for viewing our page. We are proud to present this lovely website snippet to share and update those who are interested in this project’s progress throughout the continuing school year.

Meet the Team!

Angusina is the project manager for Wave Energy Team. She was also a PM in ME 213. This past summer, she interned for Healy Tibbitts, an ocean construction company. There she gained information about material selection with respect to seawater corrosion. Her sailing background gives her knowledge of ocean conditions, mooring, and boat components; which will facilitate testing and design.

As the systems integrator for the project, Aaron is responsible for the integration and compatibility of the individual subsystems to operate functionally as a whole. He is also expected to be familiar with the literature regarding each system’s components to both facilitate and optimize subsystem interactions. Additionally, Aaron has a background in ocean related sciences and is also an active waterman. The synergy of his engineering and oceanographic knowledge makes him a considerable asset to the team.

Amy is the budget coordinator for the Wave Energy Project. She has past experience in comprising estimate spreadsheets for large scale construction projects while working as an intern for Healy Tibbitts Builders. She also is capable of organizing fundraising events and applying for grants to support the project. Her interest in the Wave Energy Project began from her love for the ocean and the environment ever since growing up on the beaches in South Florida.

Darren will be responsible for collecting research and deciding upon a material for the system and its parts. The job also entails researching and assisting in designing the turbine, generator, storage device and power distribution throughout the system.

Travis Wong is responsible for hull design. He is an intern at Maryl Group Construction.
